Question:

Constantly refilling air pressure in tires?

I just refilled the air pressure in my front tires last week and they already look like they are getting flat again. There was only 8lbs of pressure when I last refilled. It seems like this happens weekly. The tires are only a year old so I really don‘t want to have to replace them. Visual inspection shows no big tears, nails or holes. My question is, is there a simple go to the store and fix it myself solution or will I have to set some money aside and take it to the shop. My back tires are fine and they are older but never seem to have the problems I‘m currently having.

Answer:

Just a slow leak. The seal might need to be reset or there is a too small to see hole. Take it to a garage and say you have a slow leak and they'll take it from there. Last time I brought a tire in (just the tire), I took it to a Walmart auto shop and it took about 20 minutes and $10.
Unless there is a hole or something has punctured the tire stop leaks will not work and even then the directions say to have the tire repaired. More then likely the tire bead area needs to be cleaned up and a sealant applied. I just had this done to one of my tires (20 dollars). It could be a bad tire stem or leaking valve. So there is a good chance the tires do not need to be replaced (if the tread is good), but that the fix will not be cheap either.
Many tire chains will fix flats/leaks for free. Check for a local Discount Tire. They are one that will check/repair tires for free. Get it fixed before it causes a bigger problem. :)
