Question:

Converting my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac from air ride to coil suspension?

I bought a project truck from a guy in NC a few years ago that had an after market air ride suspension system in it. It was fine until I fixed the truck up a little and made it my daily driver. Now I‘m having way too many problems with the suspension that I‘ve decided to just convert it back to coil suspension. Unfortunately, the previous owner cut up the area where the coils go to make room for the air bags and I‘m stuck trying to figure out the best way to go about the conversion. I also want a nice lift to it so I‘d prefer taller coils. Any suggestions or product recommendations?

Answer:

Go to a automotive fabrication shop. It seems like the previous owner did too much frame modification for a dealer to handle it. Considering that the truck previously had coil springs, it will probably be a relatively easy job for a fab shop.
A lot of things can cause this, sometimes its the wiring, it could be loose and touching a ground.
