The lasers that study/write the coaching in each of different forms of disks (CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, and so on) are diverse and are merely able to the functionality concentrated and can't get replaced. Lightning is only attracted to the tallest nearby thing or the tallest nearby easily conducting thing Take the tallest building it will have a rod and will attract lightning it wouldn't be cost effective to have all houses with rods
On the street where I live, there are elementary two schools facing each other. Last year, the city put in speed bumps at every 100 feet or so for the entire length of the street to slow down speeders. Yes, Speed bumps deter some speeders but some idiot drivers just don't care about school kids' safety. They would drive over the bump speeds at full speed. Just last week, a careless idiot speeder hit a kid right at the speed bump in front of my house. Speed bumps benefit road safety ONLY ALL drivers obey the rules of the road, understand what are the bumps for, and have safety concerns for other people who use the roads and sidewalks.
Lightning rods will not prevent your building from being struck. They actually INCREASE it by making your house TALLER. The purpose of the lightning rod is to direct the current from the lightning to the ground along a preferred path instead of to the house. However, this works only if the rod is connected to the ground with heavy gauge wire. And my note added: They give the lightening an easier path to ground, which also make them more attractive for lightening to hit.
