Do i need just a CV boot/joint or do i need the axle too?

i drive a 97 prelude with 139,XXX miles and i think that my back left CV joint has gone bad. I started hearing a clicking a couple of days ago and i thought it was something in my tire. Looked at the tire and did some research and im sure that its my CV boot/joint. It just started a couple of days ago and only happens when i go around corners and sometimes when i shift. So do i need everything? or just the boot or what? Is the only way to really tell is by taking a look at it?Whats the cost also? Any help is appreciated :)

It cannot be the back left CV, because there is no back left CV. It is a front wheel drive car. nobody caught that? The clicking while turning is the CV joint(s). I would go ahead and replace both sides (the get the same amount of wear on them). You cannont replace just the boot in your case because the joint is worn out. Just a torn boot can be replaced, but that isn't your problem. Replace the whole shaft assembly. You can get the parts at the dealership, or at almost any autoparts store (Car Quest, Napa, ect).
