Question:

Do kitchen faucets placed on the side (top right) of sink work well?

I've never had one placed there. Are there any pros or cons?

Answer:

Some sinks are made for faucets to go to one side or another. Offset sinks have a smaller bowl on one side. This is helpful if you have limited space for the faucet. Just make sure your faucet comes out far enough to reach both bowls or has a pull out sprayer. I have and offset with a sprayer faucet and it has been working fine for me. Here are links to show you what I mean.
You didn't specify if this is a kitchen sink or bathroom sink. Many sinks - especially kitchen sinks - have specific areas where the faucet and/or any other accessories (sprayer, soap dispenser) should be mounted. If you're doing an undermount sink - you can pretty much choose where to put it - as long as you can use it successfully. I actually installed a very wide sink in my bathroom with a KITCHEN faucet that swivels installed centered behind it. This way, my spouse and I don't need 2 sinks - we just move the faucet to the side being used - works great. I think this question can be answered "yes", it works well if it works for YOU and as long as the plumbing is installed properly.
Generally speaking, you want to have the faucet centered along the back of the sink. If you have multiple basins, you want to be able to have the faucet reach both (or all three) of them by just swiveling. If you have a single basin, it might work. But, you would want one with a sprayer that pulls out to be able to reach the entire sink.
