I have proof that they are. Ever wonder why people are getting stupid? All these microwaves around us are killing us slowly. If you can't think straight and your ears ring, well your cell phone is the culprit. You guys better star me for this one. I could be saving your brains.
The zero'th thing is to take a BeginnerRiderCourse offered by both the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and TEAM. Choose either, they're both good. The course will give you an idea of the gear you'll need, but gloves, helmet and over the ankle sturdy boots are a good starter choice. Buy a new helmet, never used. Remember, spend as much as your brain's worth :-) Also, read the magazines: Cycle World, Motorcyclist, Rider, Road Bike, etc. Stop by Cycle Gear or whatever store you have in your area. You can try gear on and get advice from the other customers. Also, the sales staff at Cycle Gear tends not to be pushy and are all 100% + bike enthusiasts (at least here in Az.). Have fun!
