Question:

Do you need a carbon monoxide detector if you don't have any gas running to your home?

our house is 100% electric, so my thought is that you do not need a carbon monoxide detector because this poisionous gas comes from malfunctioning gas equipment. we live in Arizona and all the houses around us have no gas lines either, so do we need a co detector?

Answer:

ok - it leaves the nozzle with a vertical component of 30*sin(36) 17.6m/s and it's accelerated by gravity so that after time t 17.6/9.8 seconds it's got no vertical component left - it's at the highest point here ( I've used g9.8 m/s/s). Now you want to find how far it movess horizontally in that time and that's the distance you need to move away so that the highest point is reached when you get to the building. The horizontal component is 30*cos(36) so 30*cos(36)*t distance 30*cos(36)*30*sin(36)/g about 43.7 metres (but check! my arithmetic is awful!)
It's too bad you don't have access to an acetylene torch as that is probably the best way (maybe you can rent one). There is a penetrating spray called PB blaster which I have used with limited success. You might try some kind of a heavy duty mechanical puller. Otherwise if you haven't installed it yet you can try taking it to a machine shop, but will be costly.
