Go test if a damper is not maybe closed, affecting the draft into the chimney. The chimney must at all times provide a suction draft. If not, then it mean that poisonous smoke and/or deadly CO may accumulate in the house. CO itself is odorless and can not be smelled, which make it extremely dangerous. But where there is smoke, you can be sure that CO is also present. CO paralyze you and make you unconscious without you realizing it. If a house is sealed too efficiently, then that may perhaps also affect fresh air supply into the house. Possibly also the draft through the chimney. Open your window for a short while and then go investigate if the air draft into the chimney do exist.

you can't. the gloves are for his own protection as well as yours. getting a gyne exam is not exactly going to be pain free. so put on a brave face and get on with it.
