)bumps are not good for any car and if you hit it hard enough to make loud bangs or clunks you were going too fast. It depends on how they are constructed. Short but hihg speed bumps you must slow to a crawl and go over slowly. The bigger longer ones you can go over a bit faster. It pays to pay attention you can break loose parts. I have had to replace a doxen or so exhaust hangers (most muffler systems have four or five holding the muffler and tail pipe in place.) in as many cars over the last 30 years from hitting speed bumps too fast. Its hard on wheel bearings as well.
It came from older trends. Plus they are cool. And they can be used as an easy way to self-harm. I always have safety pins on me. I even have a shirt has safety pins ALL THE WAY around the collar. I love it. Plus, whenever someone needs a safety pin, I always have them in supply.
