We have two Huskies that are really hard on beds. We have tried all the ones at the big pet stores. They are all cheap egg crate foam. We want the best quality bed that wont break down. Anyone have ideas?
Make or buy a wood box. The put either quilts or a few cheap pillows in it. They can still do the same damage but it won't cost as much for the fix.
The best brand of bed is the Big Shrimpy Planet-Friendly Original Pet Beds.
FOr my two boxers we used a large plastic dog bed (available form any pet shop) and then we just lined it with blankets, towels, whatever. If the towels or blankets get dirty/wrecked they can be washed or binned, and then put new ones in, and the bed can be scrubbed down with soap and water- a lot cheaper than buying a whole new bed.
From experience on wasting my money on beds, we got a big hard plastic dog basket from a second hand site for cheap and use a blanket folded up to fit in the basket. The blanket is just cotton with a little soft filling so fur does not stick to it and it washes easily. The best part about it is that I can lay it outside, bring it with me anywhere and the dog still knows this as his bed without the basket. Usually the pillow ones I found are too big and get ruined too quickly because they are not easy to wash. I've had the same blanket and basket that 4 dogs now have shared for 8 years. :-)
