That's a good choice of materials. Greenboard (drywall with a moisture-resistant green covering) has been used in the past, but cement board is sturdier, even if a leak occurs.
Yes. Use cement board all around the shower/bath enclosure and use green board for the rest of the bathroom.
only necessary behind tile applications. if it is a free standing fiberglass or vikrel shower unit it should be fastened directly to the studs and green board applied to the studs above the shower unit and in the rest of the bathroom. Tile only over cement board i.e. hardibacker etc.
