Answer:

If your boss finds that your post did, indeed, violate their social media policy, you can be fired for this post. Hopefully, since this is your first offense, you will either get a warning or suspension instead of a termination. Many companies have a no social media policy. Some even go so far as to not allow employees to mention the company name in their employment status. You would need to get a copy of your Employee Handbook and review everything in there. It may also be against company guidelines to ask for prayers in a public post. That could constitute a violation of religion in the workplace since not all people pray. Yes, you have the right to your views, but you don't have the right to force them on others. To ask for thoughts and condolences may have been a better choice of words. Also, it was really not your place to post this. If the relative wanted everyone to know about this (even though the last name is different), he or she would have gotten the word out. When you talk to your boss, tell him that you meant no harm and that if any situation like this comes up again, you will be sure to either get approval from supervisors, or just keep things to yourself.
Firing someone for being injured is usually against the law, especially where the injury is work related. There are exceptions, but it is safe to say it is not acceptable. There is a fine balance of when the performance is impossible/dangerous, vs inconvenienced. Should the employee be incapable of continuing their job, the employer needs to try to accommodate them, or give them a proper severance. Yes they can buy them out, by forcing them to retire. If you need more information I wrote an article on being forced to quit. I suggest you subscribe to my blog for further articles. I can also be reached via there.
Any person who finds that they cannot do the job they were employed to do should be sacked
