Ok so when I crate my dog, he chews up his dog bed thats inside the crate. How do I make this stop happening? Thanks.
Put some dog toys in the crate, dogs usually chew on the beds inside crates because their is nothing else to entertain themselves with, and with toys inside your dog will have fun chewing and playingwith toys instead of the bed, leave the bed in with some toys tough.
He's bored, pure and simple. You say, when you crate, doe's this mean you shut him in? if so, how long for? Crates are meant as a safe place for a dog, their den, not a prison. They are not meant to be shut in. If you must shut him in, make sure he has a long walk first, he needs to be tired. you need him to rest while he's in there. Put a blanket over the top of the crate. If he's had enough exercise he should rest without the need to be shut in.
Not true. You must reinforce the dog's training every single day in some way. It's best if the owner and the dog go together to get trained. As a professional trainer once said to me We can train any dog in 2 days. It takes longer to train the owners
go into your kitchen and take out a mug, in the mug mix all the spiciest spices with lemon juice. put the concotion into a spray bottle and spray the bed the dog should stop
You need to take the bed out. Sometimes you just need to sacrifice somethings. You can also spray the bed with Bitter Apple which is a taste deterrent...you can by it at PetSmart or most pet stores. Another thing is to praise him when he DOES NOT eat the bedding and remove the bedding (not yell positive reinforcement works best) when he DOES start (key word START) chewing the bedding.
