Question:

dolomite, the mineral, in rocks?

what is 5 rocks dolomite the mineral is a part of?!?!

Answer:

Dolomite is the name of both a sedimentary carbonate rock and a mineral consisting of calcium magnesium carbonate (CaMg(CO3)2) found in crystals. Dolomite rock (also dolostone) is composed predominantly of the mineral dolomite. Limestone which is partially replaced by dolomite is referred to as dolomitic limestone, or in old U.S. geologic literature as magnesian limestone. The mineral dolomite crystallizes in the trigonal - rhombohedral system. It forms white, gray to pink, commonly curved crystals, although it is usually massive. It has physical properties similar to those of the mineral calcite, but does not rapidly dissolve or effervesce (fizz) in dilute hydrochloric acid. The Mohs hardness is 3.5 to 4 and the specific gravity is 2.85. Refractive index values are nω 1.679 - 1.681 and nε 1.500. Crystal twinning is common. A solid solution series exists between dolomite and iron rich ankerite. Small amounts of iron in the structure give the crystals a yellow to brown tint. Manganese substitutes in the structure also up to about three percent MnO. A high manganese content gives the crystals a rosy pink color noted in the image above. A series with the manganese rich kutnohorite may exist. Lead and zinc also substitute in the structure for magnesium. Dolomite was first described in 1791 as the rock by the French naturalist and geologist, Déodat Gratet de Dolomieu (1750-1801) for exposures in the Dolomite Alps of northern Italy. I wouldn't do it at Costco. Have them done at like a tire warehouse. I don't trust those stores. They always do something wrong. My friend had his done at Walmart, the back tire fell off. At tire warehouse they are professional. At Costco you have unexperenced mechanics.
Costco is great for tires. All the major brands, about the cheapest price, and they have a shop full of guys that do nothing but install tires all day. The best way to be good at anything is to do it a lot. I'd even go so far to say that the guys in the Costco tire shop are probably better at it than people at many other places (because they do it so much more). Regarding what you need to know, if you want to really sound like you know what you're talking about, figure out the size. It'll be a letter, then three numbers. The first is the letter - P means passenger car, LT means light truck. The next is the width of the tire, in mm. (i. e. 235). Next is the height of the side, also in mm (i. e., 55). Finally, there will be a letter (almost always R, for radial) and a final number for the diameter of the rim in inches (19') Soa complete tire size might be P235/55/R19. The easiest way to figure that out.it's printed on the side of the tires on the car now. Or.just tell the guys at Costco the year and model of your car, they'll look it up. You can also do that yourself at any tire website on the net (which is how I know your tires are P235/55/R19. Good luck!
Dolomite is magnesium carbonate
Dolomite is CaMg(CO3)2, Calcium Magnesium Carbonate MINERALS THAT BELONG TO THE DOLOMITE GROUP: Ankerite Ca(Fe, Mg, Mn)(CO3)2 Benstonite (Ba, Sr)6(Ca, Mn)6Mg(CO3)13 Dolomite CaMg(CO3)2 Huntite CaMg3(CO3)4 Kutnohorite Ca(Mn, Mg, Fe)(CO3)2 Minrecordite CaZn(CO3)2 Norsethite BaMg(CO3)2 The borate minerals nordenskoldine and tusionite are isostructural with the Dolomite Group minerals.
