My fiance and I keep having this debate. I'll tell the kids to hurry get their shower if a storm is coming and he'll say it doesn't make a difference, you're in the house, in the shower and your grounded. I don't agree with this.
Put a 15n downward Force on it and hit the side with 1n of force. Those are aproximations but if you put pressure on the top and cause deflection in the side the can will crush pretty straight down. Its similar to having someone put their foot on the can and someone else flicks the side
Most paintball fields either require or highly recommend you wear at least 2 layers of long clothing, and always a helmet and face shield. Paintballs travel at high speeds, and it can sting when you get hit, especially if your skin is exposed (such as on the hands if not wearing gloves). However, if you wear long clothing, and gloves, the adrenaline pumping through your body will usually help you ignore the occasional sting. If you wear the right clothing, it's nothing to be afraid of.
