Fibre transfer - Forensic Science question - please help :-)?

Is a pill of fibre, i.e(a ball of lots of fibre from fleece-like materials) of more significance than a single fibre? In terms of transfer and if found on say the suspect/victims clothing???

Answer:

I would try to insulate the inside of the wallIf that is not an option, put up some sort of walls and insulate that way.
I saw one done in our area recentlythe cinder blocks provide a good structure to suspend from but the one done here did not attempt to use standard depth studs: they put-up panels of foam insulation (look an inch or 2 deep) and covered with vinyl siding (and WoW - used the kind that looks like shingle siding - looks totally like real cedar shingles!).
You can either lay 2x4 flat and get insulation board to put between them (they make different grades so check into them), or you can build a stud wall 3 1/2 and use fiberglass insulation.
Likely the more fibers available would help identify the object (manufacturer process) that produced it (carpet or yarn from a sweater, etc.?)Also a pill might help identify the variability of the source better than a single fiber (were fibers well mixed and natural or synthetic? Were the fibers pulled off or shed?)Having several fibers would allow some to be sacrificed for chemical (destructive) analysis while preserving the rest as evidence.
