If I have those small, white, plastic fire alarms in my house, most of the little lights on them are green.One is half green and half red. What does this mean ?

I'm not a fire alarm installer but I have some experience with the cabling. As far as I have seen shielded twisted pair cable is always used with notifier systems. The tricky part is how you ground the shield. The usual practice is to ground the shield at the alarm panel end and not the notifier end.
