Question:

Fl fuse blows every time the key is turned. What could this be?

I have a 1994 Suzuki Sidekick JX 4x4. Everytime you try to start the car, upon turning the key it will not start. When you check the fuse panel, the fuse marked 15A Fl is always blown, no matter how many times you replace it. I have tried looking online for answers, but haven't found any satisfying. Any idea what could be going on? We have replaced the fuel pump relay twice, one of which fixed the problem, but this last time it hasn't helped. Any expertise help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:

Get hold of a shop manual with a wiring diagram. Locate the circuit that 15A Fl protects. Find all feeder circuits in that stream. Check all those for a short to ground. Repair wiring or replace components as needed, and drive on!
Try finding a shop manuel that tells you what FI supplies voltage to.
The old wiring has a short. It needs a pro to find it It might need a new section of wiring harness.
Is that the main fuse for the car?It should be higher amp than that.Check what's marked on box or owner's manual.Sound's like a dead short somewhere?
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Just replacing the fuse won't fix the problem. You've got to find out why the fuse is blowing. If you don't know how to troubleshoot wiring and electrical problems, then I suggest you get the car towed to a shop where repairs can be made.
