Im in the market for a cold air intake for my 2004 Ford F150 5.4L V8. I want the best on the market but im stuck in between which brand to get. The three brands im debating with is roush, kn, and aem. I like roush because theyre built specifically for ford vehicles. KN is a trusted brand. AEM is also a popular brand. I want the best one. The one that gives out the most horsepower and sound.
True, they will all provide about the same, and no it wont mess up the air/fuel ratio or anything. I have the kn and i like it. i wouldn't get the chrome one, the black one seems to work better. But roush would be pretty cool to have, i would probably go with that one second.
I'm surprised that an ASE Mechanic would make the claim that CAI would will cause problems to your air/fuel ratios seeing how the MAF sensor controls the A/F ratio these days. It's unlikely adding a CAI to 2004 F-150 would cause any problems. However don't expect a huge increase in power or anything without a tune to go with it. They will all provide similar results, whichever one you go with is a matter of personal taste.
Cold air intakes are a waste of time and money and will cause problems to your air/fuel ratios
