Question:

Ford Focus transmission fix?

I have a 2012 Ford Focus SE with the automatic transmission. Without going into a lot of detail, it sucks. It will allow the car to roll backwards on hills. It shifts poorly at start up and torque steer is a prelim too. is there an after market program that can reprogram transmission like there are programs engines like Hyperchip?

Answer:

Hi USAFisnumber1, The PowerShift transmission has a dry dual-clutch gearbox that uses electronics to change gears instead of hydraulic pressure. That results in a different sound and feel than basic automatics, and helps increase performance fuel efficiency. The transmission also has an adaptive learning process that adjusts to your driving habits, so I would not recommend an aftermarket reprogramming. To ease your worries, schedule an appointment at your Ford dealer so they can inspect it. You are also welcome to call our Customer Relationship Center at 800.392.3673 to discuss your concerns. examine THIS and take it to heart! ALL brake and snatch fluids destroy with time and that they'd desire to get replaced each and every 2-3 Years. They take in MOISTURE from the air and turn into GOO sludge and finally liquid sandpaper. via fact of this CALIPERS and grasp cylinders freeze up, not from AGE or USE! The fluid loses that is BOILING factor and particulates kind! in the journey that your BRAKE and snatch fluid is BROWN that is already undesirable! Get it FLUSHED OUT and re-crammed utilising basically actual FORD fluid. each and every FORD dealership runs specials in this provider. SLAVE and MASTERS won't fail if the fluid is clean! attempt getting used BRAKE FLUID on your palms and see what occurs. Your dermis will SHRIVEL! a similar difficulty occurs to BRAKE seals over the years. it quite is basically as substantial as changing OIL and TRANS fluids.
Make sure hill start assist is enabled. It should hold the car for 3 seconds after you take your foot off the gas if you are on more than a 5% grade. Also make sure you come to a complete stop on hills. Read your owner's manual starting on page 277. You can always use your hand brake if necessary. That's why it's there. The double clutch automatic transmission is mechanically different than a traditional torque convertor automatic, so don't expect it to work exactly the same. Reprogramming will not change the mechanical nature of the transmission. If you have further issue, I suggest you contact a Ford dealer for assistance.
