Question:

Has anyone used Kenda motorcycle tires?

My son‘s bike is badly in need of a front tire and he was wondering if Kenda tires were very good, they seem to be reasonably priced.

Answer:

I have used Kenda tires for quads with good results. When it comes to my street bike I spend the few extra bucks for Dunlop's or Avon's.There's no way i 'd run a cheap tire on the road especially on a fast or a heavy bike.
Be careful with installing Metzler's on a heavy cruiser if you're going to be riding in the heat. By heat, I mean in the southwest US where temperatures routinely hit 100+. Although Metzler is an excellent sport bike tire, they have been known tode-laminatee in the heat on heavy bikes. Cooler northern climates don't seem to present a problem, though. Anyway, to answer your question: several manufacturers make multi-compound tires though you'd have to check websites to see if they have the sizes required. The manufacturers website will also have load/speed information related to the particular tire you're looking for. Make sure the tire is rated to carry the load of the bike plus rider, passenger, luggage, etc. Personally, I would go with the Avon Venom or perhaps the new Storm 2 if the sizes are available. Yes, I know people that run the Kenda ( and for the most part don't have any serious issues) but I believe you get what you pay for and when you only have two tires on the ground, I personally want to put on a reputable tire, not just something cheap.

I have heard they wear quickly and don't use the best compounds. I tend to buy Continentals which are inexpensive, but seem to be very consistant in quality. I had a set of Road Attacks on my last bike and I like then a lot. They had good grip, and wore like iron.
