So, at the beginning of the semester we had to sign a paper saying we would comply with the lab rules (wearing safety goggles, long sleeves and so on). My partner quit the lab and I have no partner at the moment. It just so happens that I totally forgot to wear the goggles, I was totally unaware that I was not wearing them even though I had ALWAYS done so in the past. The TA did not bring that to my attention. I found out I was not wearing them the hard way. The lab coordinator came in and told me to leave the lab right away and even did not want me to clean my own glassware! I had just started my experiment only about 15 minutes earlier. I had the goggles with me, they were on my bench but the lab coordinator did not agree I should get any type of warning. OK, so I am mature and do not want to blame anyone for my OWN mistake but I do not even have a partner who could give me feedback or something. What do you think, what would you have done? Please give me your honest answer!
They should be allowed. But there should be certain limits. The school is a very imp institution and it plays a very important role in shaping the lives of the coming generation. One needs to keep in mind that a school should not propagate consumerism n conspicuous behavior. Following fashion would create differences amongst rich and poor students. A school should instill feelings of oneness rather than promoting the widening of the gap between sections in the society. Uniforms help maintain uniformity amongst students and that is what is relevant. Its only in school where we learn how to respect other castes, cultures, religions n races.So, in order to make sure that our future generation is not materialistic and looks above these trivial issues, we should make sure that all such things are not allowed at school level.
