They actually don't need venting,the smell is coming from the artificial logs and after you use it regularly the smell will go away.I like ours very well as all the heat stays inside unlike vented fireplaces and there is no carbon monoxide and no chimney cleaning and no ash clean up.

Most theaters its just a white screen with a coating to be more reflective. The movie is projected onto the screen from the other side of the room.
Fist I hope you have a CO detector. You can vent out the roof or in some cases out the wall using double wall vent pipe. All your heat will go outside if you do this. Then all you will have is a pretty fire to look at but little heat from the fire itself. Call someone who does this kind of work they will likely bid for free.
