i‘ve seen an episode of two guys garage about a ram air intake for a honda civic. it looks like an intercooler. does anyone know where i can find this episode or find the part? thanks.
Superstreet actually tested this intake on 2 cars in one session a 00 SI civic and a 99 EX civic. on both cars the HP gain was around 2-3 and the torque actually lost. If you want a cold air go with AEM they have the best all around gains PERIOD. They average 6-9 HP on most cars.
do not pay attention to the idiots who inform you it won't do a rattling concern, chilly Air intakes make the air chilly via blockading engine warmth from achieving the intake. additionally they make it less difficult for air to pass into the motor. a million) via takeing off the inventory air intake container, that's a plastic container with a clear out interior the midsection.( seem at that container and tell me its not restrictive!) 2) via making the tubeing ultimate to the motor straighter and much less restrictive. the aggregate of chillier air and extra air getting into the motor make it extra efficient. you could assume a upward thrust of 5-20hp, and as much as 5mpg. Plus the filters that incorporate the intake kits are cotton air filters, that are washer-friendly, in assessment to a paper air clear out, which extends clear out life.
The company that makes them is called Arospeed. The intake is placed right in front of the radiator, so the heat from the radiator is now being radiated to your intake's housing, which of course is then transferred to the intake air. So you'd actually be taking in hotter air than a normal cold air intake would. Second, whatever tiny ram effect it might have(I'm visualizing too much turbulence across the face of the filter to have any real ram effect, since it's in open air instead of enclosed) is negated by the longer tube with more bends, and the air having to take too many 90 degree turns. You'd be better off getting a real cold air intake. The site the guy above posted is the only place I've seen that says it makes more power than an AEM, and even then they don't make the claim(so they can't get sued for the blatant lies?) we have to take their word the customers are making the claims. Don't waste your money on it.
