Question:

how can i bench press with only dumbells?

i am an older female (56) and need to be able to bench press 75 pounds. I do not have a gym membership, and wonder if I can start to accomplish this with dumbells and if so how

Answer:

AS A MATTER OF FACT YOU CAN USE DUMBBELLS TO DO BENCH PRESSES, BUT IF I WAS YOU ID START OUT LIGHTER THAN TO 40 LB DUMBBELLS , WORK YOUR WAY UP TO THAT WEIGHT AND I AM SURE YOU CAN DO IT. OKAY SAY YOU START OUT WITH DUMBBELLS. SAY 10 LBS OKAY THAT WILL BE REALLY 20 LBS IF YOU ADD THEM UP. AM GOING TO GIVE YOU MY EMAIL PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD ME AND LETS TALK ABOUT REACHING YOU GOAL AND THE SAFEST WAY TO ACCOMPLISH THIS .
Just do dumbbell press.... It can work same muscles as bench press. Only difference is that weight in both of your arms are not connected with bar...
To do a bench press you need an exercise bench. You take a weight in each hand then lay down on it face up (so you're parallel to the floor), put your legs at right angles, and then you push upwards and outwards. 75lbs is a reasonably heavy amount to lift in a bench press. You may have to build up to that, which would take a few weeks or months of working out every other day and eating lots of protein. Personally I'd say it's easier to lift a 75lb barbel than 2 ~38lb dumbbells because one arm may be stronger than the other and it's easier to balance because you don't have to worry about sideways movement. Put yeah, to do a bench press, you defiantly need to purchase a bench.which would cost you about ?50 from argos and then then weight would be ?40 for dumbells and a barbell.
