I dont have a memory card yet, but I did install a driver for it in which the computer says that it is working properly but I dont see it in the My Computer file.
The computer won't recognize the device until you plug it into the cable. Normally, I would not install the driver like you did. I would go through the windows recognizing new hardware process when I plugged it in, and install the software drivers at that time when asked.
