At that age, it would probably have been fibreglass batts, which don't settle like some older kinds didMy mobile is a 1990 and it has fibreglassI had part of a wall open a while ago and the insulation was fineUnless you know that water got into a wall and soaked the insulation, there is no reason to replace insulationIf water did get into a wall, then you'd probably have to replace a lot more than the insulation.
Lettuce won't go bad in 2 daysI leaf heads of lettuce all the time, and throw it in a bowl and throw some aluminum foil on itIt remains green for a few daysBefore leafing it though i run it through ice cold water, and then let sit in ice cold water for a bit thoughThis makes the lettuce a lot crispierI also leaf it by hand and never use knives because it causes the lettuce to rust.
I agree with Karen, but in answer to your question, I would say go at it from the outside metal sidingYou will just have a lot of calking to do afterwards.
