how can or can i use the steerin wheel remote control with my new stereo?

hi anybody who can help ive fitted a kenwood stereo in replacement of my factory fitted tape stereo i still want to use the steering wheel remote control as it doesnt work now.do i need a code? adapter? plug osmething in? all help appreciated cheers

Answer:

Yeah it can be done, but you need a 'Control Stalk' cable (the name may vary! I've come across a few names for these cables). Basically, there was a cable which connected from your steering wheel to your old stereo (which allowed you to control it), and now there is nothing to connect this cable to your new stereo. So what you need it: A control stalk specific for your car (Renault Clio 05for example) and then a Kenwood control stalk adapter. The car-specific cable will plug in to the existing cable which once plugged in to your old stereo, and the Kenwood cable will plug in to your Kenwood headunit. You will then connect these 2 cables together and hey presto!
