Answer:

YES! You are (supposed to be) innocent until proven guilty NOT guilty until proven innocent.
Well, kinda. If you're suing someone for slandering you, you have the burden of proof to show it was slander. BUT Part of slander is that it has to be untrue, so if you sue someone for spreading a lie about you, they can assert an affirmative defense that it was actually the truth, so if that's what they claim, they have to prove it.
I was like that with a guy for a year and he quit smoking weed. What I did was I wouldn't let him touch me, kiss me, or hug me after he smoked unless he showered, brushed his teeth, washed hair, and changed clothes. I didn't care about the smell of weed but it showed that I despised that he did it constantly. He became so annoyed that he just stopped. I didn't feel important.. You need to tell him that it bothers you till he tries to make things better. If he loves you he will try his hardest to make you happy. I also had to beg him to job search so then i made dates out of it. We go out for dinner and he'd grab an application or we'd just go on walks together and grab them. And turn your phone on silent or off at night.
No. The person who brings the suit has to prove he/she was slandered and was harmed by the statement. The defendant is not required to prove anything. By the way, even if a statement is true, it can still be slanderous. If the statement is made for the wrong reasons, then it can still be slanderous. (Example: a garbage man cheated on his taxes 20 years ago. If I bring that up to his boss trying to get him fired simply because I do not like him and I want to make him suffer, then I have slandered him.) Truth is NOT an absolute defense.
