Question:

How do i convert scooter tire sizes?

I have a 2000 Honda Elite 50cc scooter and i need new tires for it. Problem: the manual says that i need a 2.75-10-4pr tire. Checked. Obsolete tire. So. is there a way that i can try and convert the tire size to something a little more usable? I have tried looking this up, and have decided that hours of staring at things I don‘t understand was fun, but pointless. I have seen people talking about a Pirelli SL 26 tire with the specs being 90/90J/10, but i‘m not about to put a tire on my little scooter that may cause it to burst into flames or send me flying into space. (and yes, i know that nothing of the sort will happen)Any advice or knowledge would be lovely!

Answer:

You need to have a metric conversion table handy, that 90/90 is about 10% bigger than the 2.75 and will probably fit, not positive. The 2.75 is measured in inches BUT now most tires are sized/labeled in metric. So just be happy that they still kept the rim size measurements in inches.
