Question:

how do i fix the timing on my windshield wiper on my 97 pontiac grand prix se they find parkat top windshied?

the wind shield wipers find park at the top of the windshield same spot everytime some1 told me its the timing but i have no clue what that is or were it is or how to fix it can anyone help and tell me how to do it or give me another way to fix it?

Answer:

i might guess that the thermostat is going undesirable. many times while the thermostat sticks the temp will circulate up with the aid of fact there isn't any bypass of coolant during the block. If it opens then the temp will circulate down. you are able to verify the fan besides. verify to confirm if the fan activates while the motor vehicle is warm.
The wiper motor has a switch inside of it called the park switch which maintains power to the wipers when the wiper switch is turned off until they reach the bottom.parkposition of the windshield. Since your wipers stop in the up position, that park switch is probably bad. I'm not sure if you can replace the park switch separately or if you have to replace the whole motorcheck with local dealers or parts stores and see what they sell for your model.parts stores also carry shop manuals like Chiltons or Haynes which show how to replace the motor or switch st around 25.00. Edit: Thanks for the info Jay.will keep in mind for next timeglad it was a simple fix.
Paul is right about the park switch. However on Grand Prix's it usually isn't the switch itself. My 97 did the same thing. There was suppose to be a recall to fix it, had it done. It didn't really fix it. So, I looked into myself. To fix it you have to take the wiper arms off, then the cowl cover. The wiper motor is on you driver's side. You'll see small metal post it will be painted whatever color your car is(mine was black). Take hammer and flat ended screwdriver or a small chisel and tap the post towards the wiper motor. Run your wipers and make sure the catch for the park switch catches the post. If it doesn't keep lightly tapping it over(careful not to break it). If it does catch run it a few more times to make sure it stays, Next put the wiper arms on, but don't tighten them down this is just testing it. Run it a few more times testing it with the added weight of the wipers. When you turn off the wipers they should go to the off(hidden) position. If it's all good pull the arms back off, put the cowl back on then wiper arms(in the down position), next run them once more to make sure there is no interference with the cowl, and you're done. Glad I could help out.
