how do i grow a thicker lawn
I have to answer this question to say that this year I finally have the thick, green and almost weed free lawn I've always wanted. 1) I used Lime (Dolomite) pellets because I had to neutralize the soil. I have lots of softwood and oak trees. 2) Next I applied a fertilizer 19-19-19(pellets) that I bought at an agriculture center. This is the fertilizer (much cheaper than all other brands too) that a lot of farmers use to make their field grass grow. The weeds don't like the fertilizer so some of them, like dandelions seem to die out. 3) keep it watered twice a day so the fertilizer doesn't burn your lawn. 4) Stand back and watch your patchy lawn turn green and thick, and have your lawn mower ready you'll need it.
Keep the weeds pulled and always water early in the morning. Also you can buy a cheap bag of grass seed and throw it on your lawn.
The most inexpensive way I've found is to add lime (crystals preferred) about twice a year. The instructions on the bag will tell you how much. I also use a lot of weed and feed but if you don't get weeds use a good fwertiliser. SHAW
