The struts on the vehicle may be weakened but the ride height is controlled by the springs themselves. If you have noticed a change in the way the tires wear and they have a wavy pattern(cupping) then your strut units are failing. You can have a shop visually inspect the tubes for leaks. While they are looking check the springs for damage or breaks. Then you can replace the units as needed. Most manufacturers are suggesting replacing strut units every 50k and for a little extra money you can have quick struts installed. They come with new mounts and springs/seats, great way to fix ride height and jounce problems all in one shot.
Because they believe it would drive up the ratings.
