Its not each individual airline that checks your bags, it is the airport security company. They will most certainly check your carry on luggage very thoroughly indeed. They will most certainly scan it and will open it if they spot anything that looks suspicious or beyond the regulations. The safety pins, if spotted will certainly be refused. Shampoo, deodorant - how large? Only up to 100mills each. Otherwise confiscated. What about toothpaste? Not taking any? or suncream? Start looking to buy toiletries - which they obviously have in the shops - in Bali.
They sure do. They check it more carefully than checked bags.
