how do you traditionally flush your transmission with out a flush machine tool on a dodge neon
You don't! Flushing machines at tire-shops and new car dealers is bad news. When old transmission fluid is flushed and exchanges with new fluid, all the used dirty fluid is passed through the valve body. Small check-balls, springs and passage ways may get dirt and AT clutch surfaced plugged in them. When flushing machines are used you don't get a fresh transmission filter. How stupid is that! It's best to have the AT transmission pan dropped and cleaned along with a new transmission filter. We have two independent transmission shops in our area neither of which have flushing machines for the reasons I've given you above.
Drain all the transmission fluid and dispose of it properly with used oil at your local parts store Buy enough transmission fluid to fill the transmission to the proper level and then make sure you have a quart extra. The extra quart will take care of most of the remaining leftover fluid within the transmission. This same procedure goes for 'flushing' the oil out as well, making sure that you get every last drop of oil oil out.
keep yours or just get new ones. i wouldnt risk ruining them
I don't recommend the flushing machine, it pushes the crap that is trapped on the filter, backwards, through the transmission and supposedly out the other line. The passageways in a transmission are small and run the risk of clogging with this flush. Better to just drop the pan, clean/change filter, and if your car has a drain on the torque converter, drain that, if not then leave it be and you've changed half the fluid and the rest will mix. Do it again at 5,000 more miles.
