I have a Cricket unlimited internet service on my cell phone but I want to feed this service over into my laptop using just a data cable. Can it be done?
sure you may. use Nokia workstation suite. or in basic terms turn on your cellular telephone infrared, and the workstation will comprehend it as modem n create a dial up networking which includes your nokia as a modem.
Depending on the type of phone and software on your PC. It can be done but only if the software on your phone supports it. If the phone runs on android it is possible to tether your phone and share its internet; with other phone OS's i'm not too sure.
Download a free app called PDAnet for your Samsung Android phone. That will allow you to use your phone like a wireless modem when the phone is connected to your computer via USB. I use it all the time. It works great.
what has to be done is your phone modem has to be installed and know to windows. i.e recorded in device manager. for that you need the drivers for that. Most phones produce a PCSUITE program that will achieve that for for you. pc suite is either supplied with the phone on a disk or you can download from the manufactures web site. Nokia usually supply there pcsuite program with the phone. if all fails what make and model is your phone
