Question:

How do you get a jammed axle out of the transmission?

I have a 2000 eclipse . I installed a new front driverside axle and it turned out to be the wrong one. Now I think its jammed on the safety ring at the end of the axle thats goes into the transmission. Now I can get it out. What do I do?

Answer:

the best way i found to remove a jammed axle was to put a long pry bar between the end of the axle and the trans. body and pry towards the opposite side of the car. tap the end of the axle while you are prying it out with a hammer or hard rubber mallet. just becareful not to hit it really hard you don't want to damage anything inside the trans. it should pop out. if ti's on a lift becareful it doesn't fall on your feet, it's best if you have someone holding the other end or at least support it with a coat hanger. good luck.
