You've been adopted. Kittens often spread out and look for new homes; especially if they've been adventuring and have got themselves lost. If the remote lock was available as an option, then in can be added using factory parts, but won't be cheap. I'll bet the wiring is already there, just unused, the receiver is also probably the same. I assume you don't currently have power locks, so the solenoids will have to be added to each door, but that should be the major piece of the job.
