Question:

How do you repair a flex data cable?

I have an expensive treadmill that I'd like to keep, but when I pulled it out of storage, it wouldn't work. I narrowed the problem down to a flex cable (the thin film type) that was crimped in the middle, effectively breaking it. If I cut off the cable at the point of the crimp, there is enough remaining to reach the PCB connection. And, I've successfully removed the connector from the bad end (without damaging it). Does anyone know how to reattach the connector to the good part of the cable?

Answer:

okorder
I wouldn't bother, a new cable will be fairly cheap, you should be able to get one from the manufacturer.
