Question:

How does a French Press work?

I want to know how to get a good cup of coffee using my new press.Thank you in advance.

Answer:

Using a french press is very simple. First you boil the water either on a stove or in a microwave, place 1-2 spoons of coffee in the press, and pour the water in for 3-5 minutes, When the coffee has soaked and brewed, press down with the plunger, and pour it into a cup.
I have a French Press - plus a great Cuisinart coffee pot/machine, and a DeLonghi Magnifica 3300 espresso machine. I use the French Press very rarely, because I think the coffee is too weak - and I'm not sure how you can really get that great of a cup of coffee by pushing down on the grounds by hand. The DeLonghi has very high bars of pressure and the grounds are compacted into little disks after each cup.... The Cuisinart makes great regular coffee too - and brews directly into a thermal pot, which keeps it hot for many hours....
