i need to know how a hydraulic system on a backhoe or a crane or other large construction machinesi need a diagram so i can do a science project.
They spun the wool and wove it with a manual loom.
Hydraulic systems apply force over an area to create a mechanical advantageImagine a container filled with liquid, with two cylinders ( like in a an engine) of different diameters that can act on the liquidWhere one cylinder is very small ( 1 square inch of surface area) but has a long cylinder length ( travel), and the other cylinder is much wider, with greater surface area ( ~ 100 square inch of surface area) If a small force is applied on the small cylinder, for example ~ 1 lb, this produces one pound per square inch of force on the liquid with in the cylinderThe larger cylinder experiences a force of 1 pound per square inch over its larger area of 100 square inches, and produces 100 lbs of lifting forceIf the small cylinder is depressed 100 inches ( it is a long cylinder ; ) Then the large cylinder can lift a 100 lb weight 1 inchThe small cylinder had to move 100 times the distance with 100 times less force than the larger cylinder, which produces the mechanical advantageThis is similar to a long lever requiring a small force, but lifting a very heavy object a small distanceSee the photo on the second link p2-7 figure 2-11 for a similar setup.
Not necessiarily an answer - the other responsers did thatBut, I wanted to share a memory you brought up for meMy mother had a bedspread that a great great great of hers madeThat in itself is not big feat - BUT she actually GREW the cotton, SPUN the material, MADE the bedspread - talk about homemade! The bedspread is still actually in rather good conditionMy sister now has itThe date (of completion) is made into the spread - July 4, 1876 Thanks for taking me back to that memory - I enjoyed the trip.
in the old days, they make clothes by getting it from the plants/animals and using it by the woods and by their hands(just like the machines).
You would have to grow the cotton, spin it into threads then weave it into materialThen cut it and hand sew it.lots of work.most med evil folks only had one change of clothes.you can see why!
