Question:

How does an electromagnet work?

Our science teacher made us use a battery 2 long rectangular rods made of metal and a magnet and a wire. We put the battery under this plastic thing and we inserted the rectangular rods into the slots of the plastic thing and each rod was placed on one of the sides of the battery then we put the magnet in the middle and then we put the wire on top and the wire started spinning. Why does that happen and like how does it work?

Answer:

Try wrapping copper wire around an iron or steel rod or bar neatly in a regular spiral , then attach battery note effect on steel or iron but not non ferrous
