Question:

How is the Chevy 409 in Marine Applications?

I have a twin engine boat that was originally powered by supercharged chevy 409sDoes anyone know how durable the 409 is? Can it stay together when constantly operating at 3000-4000 rpm? How do they perform with a 6-71 blower? Any rough estimates on what to expect for power with a cam upgrade and 1-1 ratios on the blowers? The boats not going to be beat on much, but I'd like to be able to wind it out every once in a whileThanks

Answer:

We love roasted potatoesClean and cut potatoes into chunksDrizzle with olive oil and whatever herbs you likeBake at 400 degrees until done.
We grate a potato into almost every soup we makeMmm, and cubed in a curryPotatoes, like rice, are in my opinion a fantastic, versatile foodYay for potatoes!
Fried in olive oil with spices and other sliced vegies for flavoringYou could also distill your potatoes into Vodka.
You can wash them and then chop them up into wedges, circles, cubes, thin or medium - whatever consitancy you like best, and fry them in some vegetable oil on medium highYou can also poke several holes in a whole potatoe and then cook it in the microwave for 5-8 minutesSlipt it down the middle with a knife and put in some smart balance buttery spread on it, chives, parsley, whateverThats a good way to eat potatoes without boiling themAs far as carbs, well, you need carbs, you'd die if you did not eat any carbs thats a factBesides, the carbs in a potatoe are good carbs.
409 was a truck motor firs that and the 348 .GMC 2 1/2 ton and up.there were also used in the chevy cars.never saw a quick 348 but saw some fast 409s what differences I do remember was the crank, timing chain and water pump were different.a real heavy crank, three or a four row chain and a much bigger water pump boat motor of old were from truck stock not passenger inventory I witnessed a 100% stock 409 on a dyno back in 1970 do 410 hp .truck motor is made to run 3 to 4 grand all day leave it stock buy a crane hydraulic cam and throw the solid lifter one away buy a modern carb and forget about the rest of it make it reliable you'll have more fun
