Question:

How long does blown attic insulation smell last in a house?

We just had insulation blown into our attic today (the temp outside was around 90-95F, if that is a factor)Everybody says they're smelling it (I can't smell anything)How long will it con't to smell? Thanks!

Answer:

You might want to try opening any airways or windows in the attic, as this will get rid of the smell fasterIf you let it get stuffy up there, it could get very smellyI am not sure whether you have polyurethane foam or fiberglass foamAlthough, temperature does have some to do with the foam's odor as well, due to the exothermic reaction in the chemicalsThe cooler it is, the quicker it will stop having an unpleasant odorPut some fans if you have any up there, to get the air circulatingLastly, don't breathe the smell if you are close to it, as it could be fumes from the equipment used to apply the insulation.
Aluminum is in group 3 It needs to give away 3 electrons
