I once kept having repeated dreams about bears attacking me. I have a psychology background and am currently pursuing my PhD within this area, although my focus is more upon the foundations of social inquiry (not dreams), but dreams are still interesting to me. Dreams communicate symbolically so it took me a long time to figure out what a bear represented to me. I conducted searches on bears, mythology, and other things attempting to find what a bear may symbolize. One day I began reading a book based upon an ancient german myth and it was through this book that I came to understand what a bear represented to me because I identified with one of the main characters who within the myth tames and befriends a bear who is symbolic of an aggressive mother. I've always had a chaotic relationship with my mother so it made sense to me. My advice to you: AN ELEPHANT is symbolic of something for you, but you are the only one who can determine what this means. Investigate elephants, learn about them and see what you find.

The Baby represents your own Childhood. The fire represents life. You are vainly trying to rescue the baby, from the fire, because of un-resolved issues from your childhood. When the flames wouldn't go out, you try to drown them, in water. The water represents your subconscious, which is where those issues lie buried. The Snake, always represents some point of wisdom, so I would say it was telling you, that there is a time when you need to let go of these unresolved Childhood conflicts. The Snake was saying, let the baby (childhood) sink away into the water. (The subconscious) It is too late to resolve these issues / conflicts, or to relive your childhood. Let it go, and move on. The poison from the Snake, represents the consequences, in your own life, that hanging on to things that are no longer relevent can do.
