i was thinking about when i first started working out in my shead with weights i remember i could only bench press about 65lbs and i was 13 now im almost 16 and i can benchpress 120 10x but at one time i could bench press 140 but i quit working out for a while and i practicly restarted from benching like 90, sooo tell me., how old were you when u started working out how much could u bench? and how much can u bench now? and how old are you?
Well, I started at 13 as well, benching the bar, at 45 pounds. Haha. I'm 26 now, and bench around 300-350 depending on the day. Takes a lot of hard work and patience, but you'll get there.
Start: 16 years old, 115lbs x 10 Now: 17 years old, 185lbs x 6 It's better to press more weight for fewer reps if your primary goal is strength gain, not muscle gain. I work out sporadically - I started last summer but didn't work out at all from September to January (other than do push-ups and other calisthenics for fitness in my gym classes). I started lifting again in February with a new gym class, but I pressed the same old 135lbs for a while before thinking about moving up. That was probably the breakthrough. I managed 150lbs for 8 reps, and though I was sore for the next 4 days, I changed my mentality about bench pressing. Now I'm always looking to move up and get stronger.
