my and my friend are going to go look for some scrap copper metal or like abandoned cars, what can can i get for that?

You can probably get a decent amount copper adds up quick. It's hard to say exactly what you'll get because it depends on the scrap yard you take it to, your location, current copper prices, etc. If you want to know what copper sells for, copper futures for May delivery sold for $3.435 a pound on the New York Mercantile Exchange’s Comex unit. That of course is not the price you would get for it though. Good luck!

Do not take any copper out of houses. That would be a crime. Do not go onto any private property unless you have permission in advance from the owner.

Last I saw for clean #1 was $2.85 per pound (Stafford, Texas 02/28/10) but it will vary depending on which scrap metal dealer you take it to.
