Answer:

Daughter of Fortune was AWESOME along with the related Portrait in Sepia by Isabel Allende. I also loved When the Legends Die.
Generally, the Poconos get about 45 inches of snow each winter. On average night temperatures dip into the 10-20F range and daytime temps usually hover in the 25-35F range. Winter conditions generally do not set in until mid-December and a white Christmas is actually pretty uncommon. I've gone to Christmas Mass more times needing a rain coat than needing snow boots. January and February are generally the coldest months, but snow is sporadic. Some years we get a few inches every week, and other years we get it all in 2-3 big storms. We occasionally get a blizzard and we can count on getting a good snowstorm from a Nor'Easter almost every year. With the exception of 2000-2005, I've lived all of my 36 years in the Poconos. In that time I can only recall about 8 major storms that totally shut everything down. Icy roads are more common than snowy roads. Studded snow tires help, but are not necessary. I've never needed chains with my 4WD.
