How much would a new transmission coolant system cost and a transmission fluid change? i have a 1997 jeep grand cherokee limited with a v8 5.2 liter
You should already have a tranny fluid cooler built into the side tank of your radiator. If you want more, which is a very good idea, you can get an add-on kit at most car parts stores. The radiator part attaches to the front of the Jeep, you just splice it into the existing cooler lines. The installation is fairly easy, and it can add years to the life of any auto tranny. If the existing fluid is clean doesn't smell burned, suggest you don't mess with it. If you do change it, go to a quick oil change place - They can suck the old stuff out thru the dip stick tube, so you don't have the chance of a leaking pan.
HI All is good with what Rick said but DON'T GO TO A QUICK LUBE PLACE and have them suck the fluid out the dip stick tube that's stupid your going to want to change the filter in the transmission too. and if the pan leaks, they did not reinstall it right or get the bolts tight or to tight (to tight can cause a leak as well as it can push the gasket out the side and not seal) and make them do it over at no charge. stay on top of it check it even before you leave the shop to make sure it is not leaking and that it is in deed full (the fluid is checked with the motor running shifter in park and warmed up) I have see many of stories where these places did not fill things back up and ruined peoples motor's and such. All ways check your fluid's good luck tim
the transmission coolant system is the radiator its on the side with the transmission cooler lines coming out of it so if problem with cooling system then you need another radiator along with a flush which can run any where from 99-200 dollars depending on who does it but go to a trans shop
