Question:

how much would it cost to fix an axle?

need to fix the axle on my 96 Honda accord. how much would it cost to buy an axle at the store then fix it yourself.

Answer:

i agree with the rider being the most important safety feature because my bike doesn't have any what i would call safety features on it.some bikes have anti lock brakes.that would be a good one for me,a kick stand warning light, tire pressure system like on new cars.
There is no one most important, on a bike they are all the most important. Just about every thing that could go wrong on a bike, at just about any speed, can injure or kill you. How ever, the single most causes of mechanical failure's, are the tires. Tire blow outs are 4th or 5th on the list of crashes.
Good vision, sense of balance, common sense, training and a bike in good mechanical condition. You'll get the Helmet, jacket, boots gloves etc from others, but you asked the MOST important. Let me clarify, the best piece of safety equipment you'll ever have is between your ears. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
the honda accord doesn't have an axle it is front wheel drive, are you looking for a drive shaft? you need a 400ft lb torque wrench to take the hub nut off , you can rent them but it can be difficult
A quick look online shows up the '96 Accord axle assembly - includes inner and outer CV joints, boots, and the hub nut - $45-60.00 depending on where you look. As to the tools, well, buy 'em. The first time you use them to get the job done, they cover their own cost and more in what you avoid hiring the job done at a local mechanic. And then they're yours, so the next time you have a job to do, you already own the tools. No new cost associated with the next job. Good luck with it.
